In a decisive move by the Baltimore judiciary, Jabre Griffith has been sentenced to two life terms plus an additional 120 years for a mass shooting that claimed the lives of two individuals and injured five others. According to a report from the Baltimore City State's Attorney's Office, the violent spree perpetrated by Griffith, which took place in March 2023, has come to a close in the eyes of the court following his conviction in November 2024. The charges leading to his severe sentence included two counts of first-degree murder and six counts of attempted murder, among other firearm-related offenses.

State’s Attorney Ivan J. Bates commented on the severity of the sentence, emphasizing the threat posed by Griffith to the community at large. "I do not take a sentence of this length lightly when it is imposed on a defendant, but when someone so clearly has no regard for the lives of others, it is without question that they are a threat to the safety of our entire city," Bates stated in a press release, as detailed by the Baltimore City State's Attorney's Office. One of the shooting victims was revealed to be a juvenile whose life will undoubtedly be forever altered by this ordeal.

Details of the incident were pieced together through police response to gunshots, casings retrieved from multiple scenes, and video footage tracing the assailants' movements across Baltimore. The officers' arrival on Edmondson Avenue led to the discovery of six gunshot victims, with evidence at the scene connecting the crime to Griffith's registered vehicle, a 2012 white Infiniti G37. In a subsequent shooting on York Road, victim Micah Strong was fatally injured; casings from both incidents were matched to the same handgun, also linking Griffith to the events through DNA evidence found on latex gloves.

The legal narrative will continue as Griffith's co-defendant, Kamal Brown, is scheduled for trial on March 6, 2025. Brown was partly identified for his distinctive attire from video footage near the incident and his subsequent activities tracked through various locations, including Richie’s Lounge and the 2800 block of Baker Street, where he resided.
